Growers’ Notes and Photos (USDA Zone 3 Experience)
Hybrid from breeder Lyubov Myazina. Packet specs: plant height up to 6 feet (180 cm), sparse foliage, prune to 2-3 stems, early ripening (80-85 days). Fruits are supposed to be around 1 oz (25 g), firm, orange color, and sweet even when they are just turning brown…
In my greenhouse, the tomatoes turned out twice as big, hitting 1.5-1.8 oz (45-50 g). The vine isn’t sprawling at all, you can safely run 3 stems. Very sweet, firm, and juicy, even when underripe 😋 You’d never guess it was a hybrid. Just a heads up, don’t let them overripen on the vine or they lose their sweetness.
Has a really nice and appetizing light orange color 👍 Yield was average. Overall, really liked it. Definitely planting it again just for the flavor alone.
Full Summary: Plant, Yield, Taste and Uses
- 🌿 Plant: Indeterminate, early season. Stays tidy and compact for a tall vine, reaching about 6 ft (180 cm) with naturally sparse foliage. Very manageable when trained to 3 leaders.
- 🍅 Fruit: Light orange cocktail/large cherry tomatoes. Advertised at 1 oz (25 g), but can easily reach 1.5-1.8 oz (45-50 g) when grown in a greenhouse environment. Very firm and juicy.
- 📈 Yield: Rated as average.
- 👅 Taste & Use: Exceptionally sweet for a commercial hybrid. The sugars develop very early, making them delicious even when slightly green or brown. However, they must be picked on time—overripe fruits will lose their sweetness and turn bland. Perfect for fresh snacking.
The grower in this thread mentions that “you’d never guess it was a hybrid” based on the flavor. This is exactly what the breeder is famous for! Lyubov Myazina is a highly respected tomato breeder who specifically focuses on crossing heirloom varieties to create modern F1 hybrids that retain the rich, complex, sweet flavors of old-world tomatoes while adding modern disease resistance and early ripening traits. Her hybrids are some of the few that heirloom purists will actually allow in their gardens!
