📌 Quick Summary (TL;DR): Klenoviy Sirop (Maple Syrup)
- 🌍 Origin: Developed and stabilized by breeders Sofia Saakova and Elena Danko. It is an accidental cross between the variety Sweet Horizon and an unknown pollen donor. The name translates to “Maple Syrup”.
- 🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate (tall). Strong, vigorous vines that usually reach over 5 feet (1.5 m). Because it was born from a cross, growers report getting both Regular Leaf (RL) and Potato Leaf (PL) seedlings, though regular leaf seems most common.
- 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Gorgeous oblate tricolor beefsteaks. The outside has a unique chocolate-honey color, while the inside is wildly marbled. They are large, typically weighing 8.8-14 oz (250-400 g).
- 👅 Flavor: Absolutely incredible. The flesh has a smooth “marmalade” texture. It is intensely sweet with complex fruity and slightly spicy undertones. Pro Tip: Let it fully ripen on the vine to unlock its true flavor profile.
Many of you have already tried this variety, but I couldn’t find it in our database. I decided to fix that because it’s a pretty interesting tomato.
There aren’t that many tomatoes of this type, and they always grab your attention. It is an oblate beefsteak, tricolor. Some people compare it to Copper River, but they are clearly different varieties.
The taste is fantastic. It’s not just sweet, it has a bright, perfectly balanced flavor. A huge plus for this variety is its heavy yield, which is highly unusual for this type of tomato.
By the way, my Maple Syrup grew right next to Renegade (which is a similar type) under the exact same conditions, and it left Renegade in the dust.
Strong, tall bush in the greenhouse. Mid-season. So far, it’s my top pick for this style of tomato.
My Maple Syrup isn’t really like Renegade, I’d say it’s more on the yellow side. And in terms of plant vigor, it falls behind Renegade for me. My Renegade plant was absolutely massive. Actually, my Renegade looks a lot like your Syrup.

Here is my little syrup, thanks for the seeds Svetochka @SvetaR!
My bush wasn’t overly vigorous or super tall. Just a standard indeterminate, a bit over 5 feet (1.5 m) high. The fruits weighed 10.5+ oz (300+ g) and were very beautiful with an unusual color. The taste was good. I wouldn’t say they were pure sugar, but they had a really nice, balanced flavor.
I just wanted to add some proper context for this wonderful variety.
Maple Syrup is a line selected from a cross between Sweet Horizon and an unknown variety. It was stabilized and named by Sofia and Elena Danko. The variety is practically stable now.
It’s a gorgeous large-fruited tomato with a chocolate-honey color (that’s its main version). The outside is beautiful, and the flesh inside is just as pretty and delicious. It has a marmalade texture, sweet, with hints of spice and fruity undertones! Fruits average 8.8-14 oz (250-400 g).
It’s a tall, exceptionally heavy yielding plant. You absolutely have to let the fruits fully ripen on the vine to experience the true magic of this tomato!
Sliced up, Maple Syrup is pure marmalade!! It is sweet, but with spicy notes and fruity hints all at once. Words really don’t do it justice, you just have to grow it and taste it yourself!!
Hello! Could someone tell me what leaf type this variety is supposed to have? I started seeds from the exact same batch and ended up with both potato leaf and regular leaf seedlings.

Mine had regular leaves.
My seedlings are showing potato leaves right now. I’m planting it for the first time.
