Growers’ Notes and Photos
Description from the seed packet: A delicious, large-fruited variety from Siberian breeders. Stands out with gorgeous, bright honey-yellow fruits with a tender, sugary taste. Fruits are round, uniform, weighing around 14 oz (400 g), with a nice firm texture and great flavor. Recommended for kids and diet food.

Grew it in the greenhouse. The bush was sturdy with bright green leaves, definitely a determinate, didn’t get taller than 3 ft (1 m).
Yield was pretty dismal. The fruits are tasty, I agree with Olya, but in my opinion, they were way too undersized compared to what was promised. Not planning to grow this one again.
Grew mine outdoors. The bushes also stayed under 3 ft (1 m), but they were kind of wimpy. Didn’t get many tomatoes, averaging around 5 oz (150 g). The taste had a nice sweet kick to it, but honestly, it didn’t really blow me away. It definitely does not like shade.
I grew it two years in a row thinking maybe I just had a bad batch of seeds. Not sure if I’m gonna give it a third chance.
For me this season, Honey Sugar was the absolute sweetest and most delicious variety. Seeds were from SibSad (Siberian Garden).
Grew it outdoors, plant got just over 3 ft (1 m) tall. Yield was average. The fruits averaged about 9 oz (250 g). It became a fast favorite. Definitely planting it again this year. I really want to see how it performs in the greenhouse.
My Honey Sugar grew pruned to a single stem in the greenhouse. It put out three trusses with three tomatoes on each. The bottom ones were around 10.5 oz (300 g), and the ones higher up were about 5 oz (150 g).
A beautiful and delicious tomato. The photo is on my avatar.
Really loved this variety. The fruits are sweet as candy, but very juicy at the same time. Very few seeds. Had 1 plant in the greenhouse, 2nd one out in the dirt.
In the greenhouse, it was one of the varieties that got hit hard with BER. Outdoors, almost all the tomatoes got sunscalded and literally baked on the vine while still green. The bush itself was very productive, though. Outdoors it reached about 4.5 ft (1.4 m). Managed to harvest 8 edible fruits, all delicious. Had about the same number that got roasted by the sun. Bottom line: gotta seriously think about putting up a shade cloth for these.
Most of the fruits were heart-shaped, weighing 10.5-12.5 oz (300-350 g). Seeds were from Kulik.
Full Summary: Plant, Yield, Taste and Storage
- 🌿 Plant: Determinate, staying compact around 3 ft (1 m) for most, though one grower saw it hit 4.5 ft (1.4 m) outdoors. Requires good sun but is highly susceptible to sunscald, so shade cloth might be needed in extreme heat. Prone to BER (Blossom End Rot) in the greenhouse.
- 📈 Yield: Generally rated as poor to average. A few growers reported decent production, but lost many fruits to environmental stress (sunscald/BER).
- 👅 Taste: The redeeming quality of the variety. Almost universally praised as incredibly sweet, “sugary”, and “sweet as candy”.
- 📦 Texture/Usage: Juicy with very few seeds. While the commercial packet claims 14 oz (400 g) round fruits, most growers got 5-10.5 oz (150-300 g) sizes. Interestingly, one grower noted their strain produced distinct heart shapes instead of round beefsteaks.
