Growers’ Notes and Photos (USDA Zones 3-5)
Description from the seed packet: “Mid-early, determinate variety with large fruits of a rare bright orange color. The bush grows 2.3-5 feet (0.7-1.5 m) tall depending on growing conditions. The plant sets 7-9 clusters of sunny, twin-like fruits weighing up to 14 oz (400 g). The tomatoes are perfectly round, dense, and the color of ripe oranges. The flavor is delicate, sugary, and low in acid. Recommended for dietary needs. Good, stable yield.”

Tasty and beautiful. The bush isn’t very tall – reached about 5 feet (1.5 m) in the greenhouse. Seeds from SibSad (Siberian Garden).

I got an off-type. Mine grew out as a heart-shaped tomato with pink marbling on top.
I got an off-type too! Planted it from a SibSad packet, and it also turned out to be a pink heart. It was very productive, though.

That off-type might actually be Golden Domes (Zolotye Kupola) 🤐.
Full Summary: Monastic Meal (Monastyrskaya Trapeza)
- 🌿 Plant & Foliage: A determinate variety that behaves somewhat like a semi-determinate in ideal conditions, growing anywhere from 2.3 feet (0.7 m) outdoors to 5 feet (1.5 m) inside a greenhouse.
- 🍅 Fruit & Shape: The true strain produces large, perfectly round tomatoes with a vibrant, glowing orange color. Fruits typically weigh up to 14 oz (400 g) and have dense, meaty flesh.
- 📈 Yield & Health: Generally provides a stable and reliable yield, forming 7-9 clusters per plant. Warning: Multiple growers reported severe off-type issues from commercial “SibSad” (Siberian Garden) seed packets, resulting in pink, heart-shaped tomatoes instead of the true round orange ones.
- 👅 Taste: Highly praised for its sweet, sugary, and delicate flavor profile. It contains very low acidity, making it an excellent dietary choice for people who are sensitive to acidic tomatoes.
