Quick Summary of Rozovaya Bomba (Pink Bomb)
- 🌍 Origin & History: This is a highly sought-after community heirloom with a fascinating backstory. It originally appeared in a Russian grower’s garden as an off-type (segregation) of the famous Pink Sgt. Pepper. Instead of producing typical heart-shaped fruits, this rogue plant produced massive oblate beefsteaks. The Russian tomato community stabilized it, and a prominent grower affectionately named it “Pink Bomb” (Rozovaya Bomba) — and the name stuck!
- 🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate. The plant is an absolute beast. It features incredibly vigorous growth with main stems reportedly growing “two fingers thick.”
- 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Gorgeous, flawless pink oblate beefsteaks. They are giant, with fruits regularly hitting 700g – 1 kg (1.5 – 2.2 lbs), even on the upper trusses! The flesh is exceptionally meaty, dense, elastic, and has very few seeds. Remarkably, despite their massive size, they are highly resistant to cracking.
- 👅 Flavor: Exceptional. It frequently hits a Brix score of 6 (which is quite rare and high for a giant beefsteak). It boasts a perfect balance of deep sweetness and a light, refreshing tartness.
- ⏱️ Maturity & Yield: Often the very first large-fruited beefsteak to ripen in the garden. It provides a long, continuous harvest and surprisingly good shelf life for a pink slicer.
A tall variety, very vigorous bush. For me, out of all the large-fruited varieties, it ripened the earliest. The fruits are huge, up to 1 kg (2.2 lbs), meaty, with few seeds, aromatic, and very tasty with a long fruiting period.
I liked the variety very much. A huge thank you to our Tanyusha (Tatunya) for this variety — it appeared as a result of the segregation (off-type) of the Pink Sgt. Pepper variety. Tanya, if I wrote anything incorrectly, please correct me.
Yes, everything is correct. It segregated. And the new variety has been maintained after the segregation, keeping stable up to this day. Plus, they keep (store) quite well. The Brix is sometimes 6, which is a rare thing for a tomato like this.

Rozovaya Bomba (Pink Bomb) – provisional name. One of the best varieties of pink beefsteaks I have ever grown! It reminds me of Kurtovo Konare, but more productive. Overall rating — 5+++.
In the spring, Tanya gave me her surplus young seedlings; this variety was labeled as Pink Sergeant, meaning it was supposed to be heart-shaped. But what grew were huge, oblate Pink Bombs (I suppose I’ll just call it that!). And most importantly — there are so many of them on the bush! It is definitely staying on my permanent grow list.
I planted this bush on the edge of the greenhouse next to the peppers, and it grew freely there all by itself. A powerful bush with a stem two fingers thick. All the tomatoes I plant in that corner end up producing record yields, proudly towering over the peppers 😄, so I plant 1-2 bushes there every year.
The taste is excellent 👍, everything is in balance — both sweetness and acidity. You can eat it in a salad or solo, so to speak. I sent the first fruits off to my parents as gifts (I usually give away off-types as gifts), two more went as presents, but once I properly tasted them, I urgently saved seeds from the very last truss.
Here is that last truss — the fruit weights on it are 700-1000g (1.5 – 2.2 lbs).

The whole tomato couldn’t even fit in my bowl! I absolutely love this consistency — the tomatoes are moderately dense, the walls are elastic and hold their shape, yet they aren’t dry at all. They are juicy with a wonderful taste.

Yes. And hers grew exactly the same as mine. The seeds must be from the exact same fruit. She herself didn’t expect this result.
Rozovaya Bomba. Indeterminate, mid-season, one of the best varieties among pink-fruited beefsteaks! Large, pink fruits, excellent balance of sweetness and acidity.
Initially, I got the seeds from Svetlana (@Svetikk), but this year I sowed from my own saved seeds. An excellent variety.

My seeds of Rozovaya Bomba are also from Svetikk.
I grew it for the second year, and I really liked the variety. The fruits are very beautiful, flawless, and practically not susceptible to cracking. The taste has an obvious sweetness in excellent balance with a light acidity.
Rozovaya Bomba
I grew one bush in 2023 in a polycarbonate greenhouse. The yield was off the charts — one of the most productive varieties of the season. Beautiful, large, and very sweet fruits!
