Quick Summary of Serafima
- 🌍 Origin: An experimental variety developed by the well-known Latvian tomato breeder Valdis Puliņš. “Serafima” is a traditional Eastern European female name.
- 🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate, but tends to stay on the shorter side for an indet (growers report heights between 1.3m – 1.7m / 4.2 – 5.5 ft in greenhouses). ⚠️ Note on Genetics: The foliage genetics are still slightly unstable; seeds can produce plants with either Regular Leaf (RL) or Potato Leaf (PL) foliage.
- 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Gorgeous bi-color fruits! They are yellow with a prominent pink blush, weighing around 150-200g (5.3-7 oz). The most unique feature is the skin—it has a beautiful matte, “velour” or velvety texture, but it is not actually fuzzy (pubescent) like a peach tomato.
- 👅 Flavor: Very meaty, sweet, and delicious. Growers note that the very first fruits of the season often contain almost no seeds.
Serafima (Latvia). An experimental variety by Valdis Puliņš. Indeterminate, can have both regular leaf (RL) and potato leaf (PL) foliage. My seeds were from Mila, and I grew one bush with potato leaves.
The fruits are somewhat matte, velvety, but not fuzzy (no pubescence), yellow with a pink blush. They didn’t turn out huge, around 150-200g (5.3-7 oz), meaty, with a very good taste and prominent sweetness. There were almost no seeds in the first fruits, but the later ones had more.

Not very tall, around 1.3m (4.2 ft).
Sveta, thanks for showcasing this wonderful variety! The bush is not tall, in the greenhouse it was 1.6-1.7m (5.2-5.5 ft). I grew it in 3 stems. The fruits are velour-like (velvety) and tasty!!!!
