Timofeich Tomato Review: Crimson Heirloom

Rate this

Quick Summary of Timofeich (Тимофеич)

  • 🌍 Origin: A highly productive Russian commercial variety, originally distributed by the GISOK seed company.
  • 🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate (tall) and extremely vigorous. The bush is described as very powerful, easily growing over 2 meters (6.5 ft) in a greenhouse setting.
  • 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Large, slightly oblate (flattened) beefsteaks. Growers specifically note the striking color of the fully ripe fruits—describing them as “Kumach-red” (a deep, vibrant crimson/flag-red).
  • 👅 Flavor & Texture: Highly praised for being very sweet and extremely meaty.
  • 📈 Yield: Exceptionally high. It is noted for its reliability, setting heavy trusses of large tomatoes without dropping any blossoms or skipping clusters, even if neglected later in the season.

Indeterminate. For me, it was over 2 meters (6.5 ft) tall, and the bush is quite powerful. Very productive, meaty, and sweet tomato. It set trusses without skipping any blossoms. The color of the ripe fruit is a deep crimson (kumach) red. O-lya-lya shared the seeds with me, she got them from GISOK.

It also became one of my absolute favorites. It grew in the corner of the greenhouse and was only pruned (shaped) at the very beginning of the season. And despite that neglect, it pumped out quite large tomatoes. Even though I have original commercial seeds from GISOK, I made sure to save my own seeds from it.
