📌 Quick Summary (TL;DR): Anastasia Ushakova
- 🌍 Origin: A fantastic Russian heirloom variety highly prized for its reliability and beautiful shape.
- 🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate (tall) and incredibly vigorous. It has a very long fruiting period, producing right up until the frost. Standout feature: Exceptional heat tolerance. Growers in hot, southern climates report that it doesn’t drop its blossoms (blossom drop) even during extreme summer heatwaves.
- 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Gorgeous, dark pink (raspberry) elongated plum/paste tomatoes with a distinct, cute little “beak” (nipple) at the blossom end. They typically weigh around 100-115 g (3.5-4 oz).
- 👅 Flavor & Use: Very tasty and sweet with dense, meaty flesh. While they are great for fresh eating, their firm texture makes them absolutely top-tier for whole-jar winter canning.
Indeterminate, productive variety. It grew in the greenhouse, pruned to 3 stems, and had a very long fruiting period. The fruits are pink, oval-shaped with a little beak, and very tasty. Weight is up to 115 g (4 oz).
It is very similar to varieties like Topklipsa and Slavyanka (which weigh up to 80-90 g / 2.8-3.2 oz), but the fruits on this one turned out larger. My seeds were from Masha (@Murka).
This is probably the only variety that didn’t drop its blossoms during this extremely hot season. Every single flower truss set perfectly. I had one bush planted in the greenhouse and another outdoors in open ground. It actually preferred being out in the open! A very worthy variety, absolutely perfect for whole-jar canning! Seeds from @Galka, thank you!
Anastasia Ushakova is indeterminate.
Dense plums with a little beak, weight about 100 g (3.5 oz). The color of the fruits is a dark raspberry pink. The flesh is dense. A variety specifically meant for canning. The taste is good. It is a heavy yielder.
I planted it right next to a bush of Syzranskaya Pipochka, and they look very similar.
