Quick Summary of Chainaya Roza (Tea Rose)
- 🌍 Origin: A commercial variety from the Russian seed company “Siberian Garden” (SibSad). The name translates to “Tea Rose,” hinting at its delicate pink color.
- 🌿 Plant Habit: Highly variable depending on the seed batch. Some growers report a tall indeterminate plant reaching 1.7 m (5.5 ft), while others describe a compact determinate bush stopping at 70–100 cm (2.3–3.3 ft). Prone to blossom drop in some conditions.
- 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Perfectly round, smooth fruits. The true strain is supposed to have a beautiful, delicate pearlescent-pink color without green shoulders. Sizes reported vary wildly, from small 60 g (2 oz) cocktails to larger 200–500 g (7–17.5 oz) fruits.
- 👅 Flavor & Texture: Reviews are very mixed. A few growers found it meaty, bouncy, and tasty. However, many reported a bland or sour flavor (“yucky”), concluding that it is better grown as an ornamental plant because the clusters look like beautiful hanging toys.
- ⏳ Maturity: Mid-season.
Variety from SibSad (Siberian Garden). The bush is neat, beautiful, set only 2 trusses. The fruits were not large, delicate pink color, without a green spot at the stem, the skin is thin, but the fruit itself is bouncy, tasty, and meaty. I liked it.

A seed seller gave it to me as a gift at an exhibition. I will plant it next year. 😘
She said it is beautiful, the fruits hang like Christmas toys.
I didn’t like it. The fruits are smaller than stated on the packet, 60-70 grams (2-2.5 oz) at best, pale pink, with a large “bottom” (blossom scar), and low yield. Of everything written on the packet, only the pearlescent-pink color and the taste were present.
In 2016 it grew in the greenhouse. The bush really is beautiful. 👏 There are many fruits. 👍 Only the color didn’t work out for me—it was far from both pink and coral. It was red. Does this mean it’s a mislabeled seed/cross? 😲 No photos, unfortunately.
Is it a determinate or indeterminate? What is its height?
Mine was 1.7 m (5.5 ft). 🍅

Valya, good day to you. My Tea Rose also turned out to be a meaty beauty! But the bush was 70-80 cm (2.3-2.6 ft), not an indeterminate at all, as they write here. I wonder, what kind of bush did you have?
Roza Chainaya (Tea Rose)
It didn’t work out for me. It sat in a royal spot—right across from the entrance. And it stubbornly dropped its blossoms. The tomatoes are absolutely round, size from 200 to 500 g (7-17.5 oz). The taste is ordinary. If it had worked out, a garland of such round tomatoes would have looked wonderful. Alas.

I will quote myself. I grew it in 2018 (SibSad seeds). The fruits hung like pearlescent-pink toys. It was some kind of tasteless, yucky muck. I threw everything away, didn’t even use them for juice. It grew on the sunny side of the greenhouse.
