- 🌍 Origin: Bred by the renowned independent breeder Blane Horton (Mississippi, USA) and released in 2017 (at the F8 generation). It was developed from his famous “Viper” line and is a sister variety to Pit Viper. Important Note: Although it is a dwarf, it is an independent creation and is not an official release of the Dwarf Tomato Project.
- 🌿 Plant Habit: True tree-type dwarf (stout, thick central stem) with beautiful dark green, rugose (crinkled) foliage. Reaches about 100–120 cm (3.3–4 ft) in height. It requires almost no sucker pruning and is very easy to tie to small stakes. Performs exceptionally well in open ground outdoors.
- 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Stunning, smooth cocktail-sized fruits weighing 60–80 g (2.1–2.8 oz). The coloring is highly exotic: a gold/olive-green base covered in orange and red-brown stripes and streaks. Inside, the flesh is olive-green with red-brown marbling and a distinct crimson-pink core.
- 👅 Flavor: Universally praised for an outstanding, intensely sweet, and fruity flavor profile. The texture is often described as “marmalade” or jelly-like.
- ⏳ Maturity: Mid-to-late season. Some growers in cooler regions report it takes a while to fully ripen, but the flavor is entirely worth the wait.
This is a tree-type tomato variety from the famous dwarf tomato series. The bush is compact with rugose tomato leaves and does not require pruning suckers. The main stem is powerful, making it very convenient to tie to short stakes. The tomato does not exceed 1 m (3.3 ft) in height.
The fruits are small, striped, and the flesh is marmalade-like and very sweet. The multicolor pattern is so complex you can’t even define all the colors in it, but green is definitely present. The fruit coloring is striped, but not overly bright or neon. The taste is simply super, one of the most delicious tomatoes I have ever tried. If you want sweet tomatoes with a fruity flavor for Open Ground — this is your variety.
‘Aftershock’ (USA) — a tree-type tomato variety of American breeding. The originator is Blane Horton (Mississippi, USA). It comes from the Viper line (a sister variety to ‘Pit Viper’). The variety was introduced by Blane Horton in 2017 at the F8 generation.
The bush is a tree-type, “Dwarf” type. Meaning, the main stem is thick and powerful. The leaves are dark green, large, and rugose (crinkled, typical for a dwarf). (Note: this variety does not belong to the Dwarf Tomato Project!) The height of the bush is 100-120 cm (3.3-4 ft). The fruits are round, smooth, without ribbing, weighing 60-80 g (2.1-2.8 oz).
The coloring of the ripe fruits is exotic — on a golden-green, olive-green background there are orange, red-brown stripes and streaks. Unripe fruits are light green with dark green stripes. The flesh color is olive-green with a red-brown marbled pattern and a crimson-pink “tie” (core) in the center. It has 4-5 seed locules. It is a mid-season variety.

Dwarf. The bush is very sturdy. Not tall. Cocktail-sized fruits. Very striking and festive visually. One problem, though: it is late-season.
