Great White Tomato Review & Photos

Share your rating

🍅 Quick take: Great White is a mid-season, indeterminate heirloom that produces massive, oblate white fruits with a delicate pale yellow hue and sometimes a pinkish blush. Growers highlight its extremely mild, low-acid flavor, which some find incredibly sweet and delicious, while others find a bit bland compared to stronger-tasting varieties. It is a vigorous, highly productive plant that sets fruit well even in extreme heat. A key tip from growers: don’t let it get overripe, or the flesh will turn overly soft and watery. Full summary ↓

Pretty vigorous indet, good yields. Oblate white fruits that get a little pinkish blush on the top when fully ripe. If you let it get overripe, it turns completely soft and watery. Honestly, the flavor didn’t blow me away, it’s kinda bland. Probably great if you need strict low-acid diet food. Sure is a beauty to look at, though. Weight ran about 8-15 oz (250-400 g). Big thanks to Larisa-Larek for the seeds! 🙏

Interesting variety. I grow at least one white tomato every year and honestly they all (Great White Beefsteak, White Queen, Swan Song) seem pretty similar in taste and color, pale yellow, sometimes a little pink blush on the blossom end. The flavor is delicate, totally acid-free. Really good for folks who need low-acid diet tomatoes. Indet, grew it in the greenhouse pruned to 2 stems. Very pretty 🙂

Grew it this year and definitely doing it again next season. Awesome variety! Vigorous indet, mid-season, ran it with two leaders. Very heavy yielder, didn’t drop a single blossom during the heat wave. The tomatoes are huge, meaty, and sweet. The very first one I picked was a little on the bland side, but all the rest were incredibly delicious. You really don’t need anything else with this tomato, just sprinkle a little salt on a slice and enjoy 😋

Grew this one again and still love it. Great yield, really unusual color, and that delicate flavor with just a hint of sweetness 🤤
