🍅 Quick take: Kenosha Paste is a highly productive, mid-season indeterminate vine with wispy foliage. It produces meaty, sweet red plum tomatoes weighing around 4.5-5.5 oz. While it is an absolute workhorse for canning and processing, its surprisingly juicy, sweet flavor profile makes it just as fantastic for fresh eating. Full summary ↓

Tall indeterminate vine, mid-season slicer/paste with wispy foliage. The fruits are elongated red plums—some have a pointed tip, some don’t. They are super meaty but still retain a nice moderate juiciness. Very aromatic, incredibly good flavor with a nice sweetness, and practically seedless.

Yield is exceptionally good. Seeds came from T. Kushnareva. Definitely keeping this one in the rotation.

ABSOLUTELY loved this variety! Huge thanks to @Tatunya for giving me a seedling this spring 🙏

Ran 2 vines in the greenhouse. They are indets, heavy yielders, and have a really long harvest window. Fruits are meaty red oval icicle types weighing up to 4.6 oz (130 g). Fantastic flavor with a good amount of sweetness. It was perfect for fresh salads, just a great all-purpose tomato.

Very few seeds, the flesh is nice and dense but definitely not dry. Just an all-around stellar variety! Plant it, you won’t regret it 👍

Grew this one in a tightly spaced row. Handled the crowding perfectly, set fruit all the way up the vine, and was super productive. The fruits are fairly large red plums, hitting around 4.5-5.3 oz (130-150 g).

I really liked the taste. Super meaty, very little gel or seeds inside. Used them for fresh salads and for canning.

Full Summary: Plant, Yield, Taste and Storage

  • 🌿 Plant: A mid-season indeterminate vine with classic “wispy” foliage. It is robust, handles crowded planting well, and reliably sets fruit from the bottom all the way to the top of the plant.
  • 📈 Yield: Exceptionally high and consistent. Provides a long, drawn-out harvest window rather than dumping all its fruit at once.
  • 👅 Taste: Unusually excellent for a paste tomato. The flavor is sweet, aromatic, and rich. The flesh is dense and meaty with almost no seeds, but it avoids the “dry/chalky” texture common in standard Roma types.
  • 📦 Storage: A true dual-purpose tomato. Its meatiness makes it ideal for canning, making sauce, and putting up in jars, while its juicy sweetness makes it highly desirable for fresh eating and salads.
  • 🌎 Who Reviewed It: Grown successfully across multiple Zone 4 regions in Russia (Kostroma, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod) in both greenhouse and outdoor setups.
