Growers’ Notes and Photos
I bought these seeds retail. I’m a big fan of the actress it’s named after, so I wanted to grow it in her memory.
It’s an indeterminate vine, gets tall, and loads up nicely with heavy, large heart-cylindrical fruits. It’s a mid-season producer for me. Taste is solid, a 4+ out of 5, with dense, sugary flesh up near the stem. The first-year yield was fantastic. These are really versatile, great for slicing into salads, making paste, or canning them in halves.

Honestly, right now this is the absolute best yielding variety I’ve got in my greenhouse.
I really love this fruit shape, it’s sort of a cross between a half-heart and a half-barrel.
Full Summary: Plant, Yield, Taste and Storage

- 👅 Taste: Rated a solid 4+ out of 5. It features dense, sugary, meaty flesh, particularly around the stem.
- 📦 Texture/Usage: Highly versatile. The unique semi-heart, semi-barrel shape makes it perfect for fresh salads, cooking down into rich paste, or preserving as canned halves.
As the original grower mentioned planting this in memory of an actress, “Nonna M” is a tribute to Nonna Mordyukova (1925–2008), one of the most celebrated and beloved actresses in Soviet and Russian cinema. She was named one of the top 20 actresses of the 20th century by the British encyclopaedia *Who’s Who*.
