Pink Raisin (Rozovyi Izyumnyi) Early Beefsteak Tomato Review

Rate this

Quick Summary of Rozovyi Izyumnyi (Pink Raisin)

  • 🌍 Origin & Name Confusion: An underrated but fantastic Russian variety originally from breeder T.Y. Yashchenko. Note: Do not confuse “Rozovyi Izyumnyi” (Pink Raisin – large beefsteak) with “Rozovyi Izyum” (Pink Raisin – cherry tomato).
  • 🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate, but a moderate grower (not overly tall), with strong stems and regular leaf (RL) foliage. It is highly adaptable to difficult growing conditions. Best pruned to 2 stems.
  • 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Medium-to-large, round, pearlescent-pink beefsteaks averaging 150-200g (5-7 oz). They ripen perfectly clean with no green shoulders or hard white cores inside.
  • 👅 Flavor & Texture: Meaty, juicy, and sweet with a well-balanced, classic tomato flavor. The flesh is dense, not mushy at all.
  • Maturity & Climate Adaptability: Early to mid-early. This variety is highly recommended for Northern growers and short-season climates. It yields fast and abundantly, giving its full harvest before late blight and other autumn diseases can strike. Performs equally well in open ground and greenhouses.

Variety from T.Y. Yashchenko. The bush is moderately tall, and it turned out to be mid-early in this difficult growing year.

The fruits are large, round, starting from 200g (7 oz), pearlescent-pink, tasty, and juicy. The yield is good.

Seeds from Tomatanya, thank you.

A good variety. The tomatoes are juicy and meaty. Tasty, with a classic tomato flavor, no green shoulders or hard white cores. Suitable for difficult growing conditions. On the plate, the pink one is Pink Raisin, and the yellow one is Medovyi Spas. A great pair.

A very good variety, although not famous at all. For me, it turned out to be early. Today we ate the third tomato grown outdoors in open ground. Not too big, about 150 grams (5.3 oz). The tastiest of all that have ripened in the open ground so far. Sweet, juicy, true tomato flavor.

An excellent variety, a real little workhorse. It performed well both in the greenhouse and in open ground. The taste is balanced, it has both tartness and sweetness.

With a name like that, I expected to see sweet pink cherry tomatoes.

Regular leaf, not potato leaf. I’ve been growing it for 2 years now, seeds from Zolushka.

I got acquainted with this variety this past season. It’s surprising that this variety isn’t particularly famous considering its great potential. I think it will especially make friends with tomato lovers from regions north of Moscow.

The variety is early; it gives away its harvest quickly, before all the diseases arrive. High yielding, not finicky, sets fruit well. I liked the taste—bright and balanced.

It’s a pink beefsteak, averaging +/- 200g (7 oz). The bush is moderately tall, sturdy, and was grown in two stems.

I highly recommend it, especially to Northern growers.
