Quick Summary of Rozovaya Stella (Pink Stella)
- 🌍 Origin: A commercial Russian variety from the seed company “Siberian Garden” (SibSad). Note for Collectors: Some experienced growers believe that “Pink Stella”, “Petrusha Ogorodnik”, and “Supermodel” are virtually identical twin varieties.
- 🌿 Plant Habit: A true determinate and very compact. Officially listed at 40-50 cm (1.3-1.6 ft) tall, though some growers find it gets slightly taller. It has a very tidy growth habit: the side shoots are exceptionally short, so the bush grows vertically like a stele/pillar (hence the name “Stella”) and is not sprawling or messy. Mid-early, short-growing variety for open ground and temporary shelters. The bush is 40-50 cm (16-20 inches) tall, trusses set frequently, after every single leaf. A truss contains 5-7 large pepper-shaped fruits of a pink-raspberry color, with an average weight of 150-200g (5-7 oz). Tomatoes have a small amount of seeds and a sweet, dessert-like taste. Stable yield.

I planted Pink Stella in 2012. Seeds from SibSad (Batch No. 980). The variety description is above. My saved seeds produced larger fruits than the original ones from the “SibSad” packet.

Natasha, I was sorting through my seed packets today, looking for what else to repeat from the old ones, and this variety caught my eye. Found a photo, the tomato looks pretty decent. I don’t remember the taste though. Maybe I should repeat it?

The variety is more of a mid-season. I didn’t prune/sucker it, didn’t tie it up, just put little wooden boards under the trusses so they wouldn’t touch the ground 😄 Productive, tasty, I will definitely repeat it.
I planted “Petrusha Ogorodnik,” “Pink Stella,” and “Supermodel” right next to each other. The fruits and bushes are extremely similar.
I won’t try to prove it, but IMHO, these varieties are twins.
I planted one bush outdoors in open ground this year. A normal little tomato. My friend really liked it, she planted it in her greenhouse.
A specific feature of this variety is that its side shoots are very short, so the bush grows straight upwards like a pillar (a STELE). But even in height, it doesn’t get very tall. It’s so compact. My friend planted it in the middle row in the greenhouse and she really loved that it doesn’t block the pathway, it’s not sprawling/messy at all. Other than that – pink and tasty, not prone to diseases.
