Quick Summary of Semko 98 F1

  • 🌍 Origin: A highly reliable commercial F1 hybrid from the Russian agricultural company “Semko”.
  • 🌿 Plant Habit: Determinate (bush). Compact and semi-spreading, growing only 50-55 cm (20-22 inches) tall. It is highly adaptable and can be grown in open ground, greenhouses, or even indoors on a windowsill.
  • 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Red, oblate (flat-round), and smooth to slightly ribbed. Fruits are uniform, weighing 65-80g (2.3-2.8 oz). They have excellent transportability and a long shelf life.
  • 👅 Flavor: Surprisingly sweet for an early variety, with a strong, classic tomato aroma. Pro Tip: Growers emphasize that you must let it fully ripen on the vine to unlock its sweetness; if picked too early, it can taste tart.
  • 🛡️ Disease Resistance: Exceptional. It is officially resistant to Late Blight (Phytophthora – Pi), Tomato Mosaic Virus (ToMV), Early Blight (Alternaria – Asc), and is highly tolerant to Blossom End Rot.
  • Maturity: Very early season. Fruits begin to ripen just 87-93 days after sprouting, offering a concentrated, heavy harvest.

A tomato of rich color, with an active tomato aroma, quite sweet for an early one.
Sweeter than Iyunskiy (June) 🙂
And this is despite the fact that the bush finished growing indoors on a windowsill.

But! This tomato needs to be allowed to FULLY RIPEN!
I consider all the reviews about its acidity to be unfounded. Give the tomato what it requires and it will please you.
