Super Exotic (Superekzotik) Tomato: Dark Striped Plum

My granddaughter and I already munched on two tomatoes, DELICIOUS 😋, maybe because they are the first home-grown tomatoes of the season, but for canning jars, they are exactly what you need…. I fell in love with this variety back in the seedling stage, it’s not fussy and not prone to diseases. Next year I am definitely planting it, I saved tomatoes for seeds, and will happily share with anyone who wants some 🙂

My tomatoes have ripened too. Tasty, juicy with a bit of acidity, productive — up to 20 tomatoes per truss. They will go into jars for pickling.

And for some reason, my Superekzotik grows to almost 2.5 m (8 ft) and there are never more than 8 tomatoes per truss.

Yes, the variety deserves admiration, definitely! 👍 When fully ripe, the fruits are deep red with green stripes/streaks… The flesh is “marmalade-like” (jelly/jammy), with an excellent taste 😋

I looked at this thread and decided to post my little tomato here. It grew from a green off-type (mislabeled seed) of “Shokoladka” (Chocolate), the seeds of which Natasha (Rizaia) sent me. I want to show one of the clones. 2 bushes were planted in the greenhouse and both were identical, but in the garden outside they were completely different — elongated with a small point/beak, smaller (in width), and one was dark red with stripes (a tall indet), while the other was green with stripes, which I would classify more as a determinate (maybe it depends on growing conditions?).

And here are the tomatoes up close. The color is slightly less bright, more brownish, which is why I called it a brown off-type. When the first fruits were ripening, it was generally dark brown.

And their weight was from 35 to 55g (1.2-2 oz), with some reaching up to 70g (2.5 oz).

The bush is an indet, I trained it to 2 stems, but I wouldn’t say it’s very vigorous, and it’s quite airy/see-through (wispy), not particularly leafy. And it fruited for a long time — this photo is from the end of September, and there are still many green ones. By the way, the tomatoes can hang on the bush for a long time without spoiling.

Quite tasty, the inside is not dense, but rather, as Yaroslavna says, “marmalade-like” 😄. So, does it look like Superekzotik, or is it something else? If it’s something else, then I probably need to remove it from here and move it to an independent thread… I just don’t know which one 😅

Galya, I’ve already posted about it everywhere. It just seemed to me that it looks like this Superekzotik. And besides, it’s more convenient to compare it here, because I showed the bush itself, the tomatoes, their weight, and fruiting time. If the experts definitively determine that it’s not it, then I’ll have to delete it 😞.

Girls, what height is it in open ground? I’d like to know, since space is limited in my garden and I don’t want to shade out other plants..

The separate photo didn’t turn out very well, here is Superekzotik next to Legenda and Banana Legs. Cute.

My handsome guy is still in open ground. Quite resilient, after all the suffering — early planting outside (April 23), chlorosis in the seedling stage… It caught Late Blight (Phytophthora) before the others, but after applying Ordan (fungicide) it came back to life. Lots of little fruits. I’m going to finally taste them this weekend! 😳

I did not like the variety. The bush is tall, low-yielding, the taste is mediocre, average.

The tomato is pretty, but the yield and taste are nothing to write home about. It also turned out to be late for me. I didn’t bother saving seeds.

I will stand up in its defense: very productive, tasty, sweetish, tomatoey and beautiful… looks awesome in canning jars… it’s still ripening in my greenhouse….

I will definitely plant it next year…

I actually liked the variety very much: about two meters (6.5 ft) in the greenhouse, with gorgeous trusses. The flesh, when ripe, is truly marmalade-like and sweet. I will definitely plant it next year.

Grew in open ground, productive, beautiful and tasty!

Oksana, it seems to me that this is not Superekzotik, but more likely you have Easter Egg (Paskhalnoye Yaytso). I also grew Superekzotik in open ground, it is black with green stripes, here is a photo from Natasha-Yaroslavna:

Tatiana, even though I’m a year late with this reply 😄, but I’ll answer — no, it’s not Easter Egg, it’s just the phone camera distorting the color… plus last year, when I took the photo, the tomatoes were already slightly overripe on the branches…

Repeated it this year in the greenhouse, decided that it performed just as well in open ground, so there is no need to take up space in the greenhouse anymore..

Superekzotik is an excellent mid-season tomato variety. Tall (1.7 meters / 5.5 ft in the greenhouse) and productive. The fruits are small in size, very tasty, sweet.
