Quick Summary of Sweet as Linda (Sweet Linda)

  • 🌍 Origin: A fantastic cherry tomato bred in the USA by M. Murdock. It is a stabilized cross between the legendary Marianna’s Peace and Sungold F1. He named the resulting variety in honor of his wife.
  • 🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate, vigorous, and tall (growing up to 2 meters / 6.5 ft in a greenhouse). It features attractive Potato Leaf (PL) foliage. It can easily handle being grown in multiple stems (e.g., 5 stems).
  • 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Deep pink cherry tomatoes, occasionally slightly plum-shaped, weighing 15-25 g (0.5-0.9 oz). They have a unique, beautiful “pearly” shimmer to their skin. The texture is firm but very juicy.
  • 👅 Flavor: Absolutely top-tier! Taking the best traits from its parents, it is amazingly sweet, perfectly balanced, and highly aromatic. Many growers consider it the best-tasting cherry of their season—a true garden treat.
  • 📈 Yield: Excellent. It produces complex, heavy trusses and sets fruit flawlessly without dropping blossoms.

Sweet Linda. A cherry variety with very beautiful, deeply saturated pink fruits. In 2015, this was the absolute tastiest cherry variety in my garden 😋.

The fruits are firm little pink plums. The taste is very balanced, with a wonderful sweetness. I pruned the suckers up to the first truss, and tried to train it into 5 stems until the end of July. After that, I just let it grow wild however it wanted! 😊

In the greenhouse, the Sweet Linda variety was tall (2 meters / 6.5 ft) and had a mid-early ripening time. The fruits were incredibly tasty, sweet, and juicy. It also has Potato Leaf (PL) foliage.

Sweet as Linda (USA). It is often listed in catalogs as “Sweet Linda”.

A cherry variety from the USA. Its original name is Sweet as Linda. It was created by crossing Marianna’s Peace and Sungold F1, bred by M. Murdock from the USA, who named it in honor of his wife.

It is an indeterminate, mid-early cherry tomato. The fruits are round, deep pink with a gorgeous “pearlescent dusting” on the skin, weighing 15-25 g (0.5-0.9 oz). I absolutely loved the taste: amazingly sweet, rich, and highly aromatic. It is a true garden treat.

The yield is excellent; it produces complex trusses and sets fruit flawlessly.
