Growers’ Notes and Photos (USDA Zones 4 & 8 Experience)
Short, compact bush up to 16 inches (40 cm) tall, doesn’t take up much space at all. Ours flopped over a bit, just currently resting on a bucket. It’s a true determinate, caps itself, requires zero suckering. Tomatoes are about 2 oz (60 g)—firm red little globes. Fruit set is fantastic in absolutely any weather.
The seed packet promised it would “amaze you with unexpectedly excellent flavor.” Yeah, that didn’t happen. The taste for us in 2014 was just your average, run-of-the-mill tomato flavor. Yield was roughly 2.2 lbs (1 kg), give or take.

I had just plain “Rentita”, grew it from seeds I bought over in Switzerland.
Rentita, 2010 season:
Height by August 1st: 1.6 ft (0.5 m)
Yield per plant: 2.2 lbs (1.0 kg)
Max fruit weight: 2.8 oz (80 g)
Flavor rating: 3.5 (out of 5)
Full Summary: Hoffmanns Rentita
- 🌿 Plant: Very compact determinate (micro-dwarf) bush reaching roughly 16–20 inches (40–50 cm). Requires no suckering or pruning. Great for small spaces or container growing.
- 📈 Yield: Reliable but modest due to plant size—about 2.2 lbs (1 kg) per plant. Sets fruit effortlessly in all weather conditions.
- 👅 Taste: Rated “average” to 3.5/5. Don’t expect a gourmet heirloom profile; it’s a basic, standard tomato flavor.
- 📦 Storage: Firm little cocktail-sized globes (2-3 oz / 60-80 g) hold up well.
- 🌎 Who Reviewed It: 2 growers.
