Yield was pretty average for me. Not a crazy heavy producer, but at the same time, I definitely wouldn’t call it a low yielder either.
Grew it again this year from my own saved seeds. Average yield, pruned to two stems. Beautiful and delicious.
Poltava. Open ground.
Height was 3-4 ft (1-1.2 m). A really sturdy plant. Mid-late season. Unlike a lot of other varieties, it actually managed to set 2, 3, even 4 trusses right in the dead heat of summer. The yield isn’t huge, only about 1 to 3 tomatoes per cluster. But this is my first year growing it.
Fruits are firm and hold up well to transport. Taste is good, pretty standard. Maybe I just need to let it ripen on the vine longer. Visually, it is an absolute stunner.
My gorgeous chunky slicer.

Full Summary: Plant, Yield, Taste and Heat Tolerance
- 🌿 Plant: A sturdy, indeterminate vine. Can be kept fairly compact outdoors (3-4 ft / 1-1.2 m) but will easily reach 6.5 ft (2 m) in a greenhouse setting. Responds well to being pruned to two stems.
- 📈 Yield: Universally rated as “average.” While it won’t produce a massive avalanche of fruit, the sizing is highly consistent, and it rarely drops blossoms, even during severe mid-summer heatwaves.
- 👅 Taste & Texture: Very sweet, rich, and meaty. It possesses the distinct, earthy-sweet flavor profile that lovers of anthocyanin (purple/blue) tomatoes look for. The fruits are firm and handle handling/transport well.
- 🍅 Fruit: Extremely uniform, oblate medium-sized slicers weighing 5-7 oz (150-200 g). Striking visual appeal with dark purple (anthocyanin) shoulders bleeding into a pink-red striped base.
