- 🌍 Origin & Name: Translated as “American Long-Fruited” (or simply “American Long”). Despite the name, it was introduced and popularized in Eastern Europe by breeder/collector A. Kulik. Many forum growers suspect it is a genetic duplicate (synonym) of the Russian heirloom Siberian Cossack.
- 🌿 Plant Habit: Indeterminate (tall). An extremely vigorous and powerful plant, easily reaching 1.8 – 2.0 meters (6-6.5 ft) in height.
- 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Long, red, pepper-shaped or elongated paste-type fruits. They typically grow 12-20 cm (5-8 inches) long. Average weight is around 150-200g (5-7 oz), though Kulik’s original description claims they can reach up to 400g (14 oz). They are very dense and meaty.
- 👅 Flavor & Uses: Excellent, sweet taste. Because they are so meaty with very little loose juice, they are a fantastic “all-purpose” tomato—great for fresh eating, but absolutely perfect for sauces and canning.
- ⏳ Maturity: Mid-late to late season. It can be a slow starter, but it produces heavily once it gets going.
Seeds are from Kulik. His description: “A unique, tall (bush 2 m / 6.5 ft), late-season variety that produces fruits 15-20 cm (6-8 inches) long. They are red, meaty, weighing 350-400g (12-14 oz), with excellent taste qualities. Highly productive, disease-resistant.”
For me, the fruits were about 12-15 cm (5-6 inches) long, weighing 100-200 g (3.5-7 oz). Tasty and sweet.
In 2014, Kulik provided this description – American Long (mid/1.80m/200g). Super yield, powerful bushes, fruits 15 cm (6″), beautiful, firm. A favorite.

It looks incredibly similar to Siberian Cossack (Sibirskiy Kazak)!!!!
I strongly suspect they are twins (duplicate varieties).
Tasty, sweet, all-purpose use.
It also seemed to me like a twin of Siberian Cossack. The only difference was that Cossack started setting fruit and ripening earlier. Perhaps the “American” just needed more time to acclimate. In terms of taste and appearance, they are identical. Both were very tasty.

These are the only words I can find to describe this variety. I loved it. The whole family did.
My seeds are from Angelina. It took a long time to get going, produced a few blossoms, and then stalled out. But toward the end of the season, it exploded with growth and produced a ton of long, beautiful, and very tasty tomatoes. Everyone loved it!
