📌 Quick Summary (TL;DR): Zhemchuzhinka (Little Pearl)
- 🌍 Origin: A commercial Russian variety from the GISOK seed company. The name translates to “Little Pearl”. Visually and genetically, it appears to be identical to the well-known western variety Garden Pearl.
- 🌿 Plant Habit: Determinate (bush). It has a trailing/tumbling growth habit, making it an absolute superstar for container gardening, balcony pots, and hanging baskets.
- 🍅 Fruit Characteristics: Tiny, beautiful pinkish-pearlescent cherry tomatoes. They average about 0.3-0.7 oz (10-20 g) each.
- 👅 Flavor & Yield: Extremely sweet. For such a small plant, the yields are insane – the bushes get completely smothered in fruit.

Zhemchuzhinka (Little Pearl). Det variety from the GISOK seed company. Tbh, based on the looks and description, it’s basically the exact same thing as Korean Creeping or Garden Pearl.
You can grow it in barrels, hanging baskets, or just out in the garden. I grew mine in a 4-gallon (15L) pot and actually tied it up to a small stake so it wouldn’t cascade down too much. The tomatoes are tiny, like 0.3-0.7 oz (10-20 g), with this gorgeous pink-pearlescent color. Super sweet, and the plant was absolutely loaded with them!
👨🌾 Editor’s Notes:
- Tumbling Tomatoes: Sveta mentions having to tie this plant up so it wouldn’t trail down too much. Varieties like Zhemchuzhinka and Garden Pearl have a “tumbling” or creeping growth habit. Their stems are naturally pliable and meant to cascade over the edges of hanging baskets or tall planters, making them perfect for patio and balcony growers!
- Seed Trade Synonyms: As Sveta correctly suspected, it is very common in the Eastern European seed market for companies to take a well-known western heirloom (like the German-bred Garden Pearl) and rename it slightly (like Little Pearl or Korean Creeping) for local trademark reasons.
