It produces very firm, meaty red plums with a pointed tip, typically weighing 5-9 oz (150-250 g). Huge thanks to Galina @axleto for the seeds 🙌

Beautiful red plums with a pointed tip. Indeterminate, weights were up to 5.3 oz (150 g), though the late-season ones were a bit smaller around 2-2.5 oz (50-70 g). Produces for a long time, very firm fruits. The flavor really surprised me—super sweet, almost like a cherry tomato 😋 Definitely a must-grow again 📝

Really delicious tomato! I got large red plums, but the yield was just average for me. Definitely need to grow it again so it can adapt to my local conditions.

Full Summary: Plant, Yield, Taste and Storage

  • 🌿 Plant: Indeterminate vine. Produces heavy, meaty red plum tomatoes with a classic pointed tip (nipple) on the blossom end. Fruit size can vary depending on growing conditions, ranging from 2 oz (50 g) late in the season up to 9 oz (250 g) on the lower trusses.
  • 📈 Yield: Generally high, producing continuously until late fall. Some growers report needing to acclimatize the seeds to their local zone for maximum yield.
  • 👅 Taste: Exceptional. Unlike many firm paste tomatoes that are dry and bland, Ohridski Dolgaves is highly praised for being incredibly sweet and juicy, often compared to cherry tomatoes in flavor intensity.
  • 📦 Storage: Outstanding. The firm, meaty flesh allows the fruits to store exceptionally well off the vine, with growers reporting them keeping in great shape all the way into November. Excellent for fresh eating or canning in halves.
  • 🌎 Who Reviewed It: Grown by users in the Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod regions (USDA Zone 4).

👨‍🌾 Editor’s Note: Origin
Ohridski Dolgaves is an heirloom variety introduced and popularized by Živojin Antić, a highly respected tomato breeder and seed collector from Serbia. The name likely references Lake Ohrid (a major lake in the Balkans), while “Dolgaves” refers to the elongated, plum-like shape of the fruit. This variety has become a massive hit among Russian and Eastern European growers due to its rare combination of paste-tomato firmness and cherry-tomato sweetness.
