Lyubov Irana (Love of Iran) Tomato Review & Photos | Massive Pink Beefsteaks

Share your rating
🍅 Quick take: Lyubov Irana (Love of Iran) is a mid-late season, indeterminate pink beefsteak tomato. It is known for producing massive, uniform slicers weighing anywhere from 10.5 oz to over 2 lbs (300 g to 1 kg) with a rich, classic tomato flavor. While most growers report huge yields and beautiful fruit with no green shoulders, it can be slightly finicky—requiring extra potassium, careful watering to prevent radial cracking, and occasionally throwing megablooms that result in poor fruit set if the seed genetics aren’t stable. Love of Iran and I just didn’t find any love. The vine stayed around 5 feet (1.5 m) in the greenhouse.

Veronika, it’s definitely not a wimpy plant, just your standard indet reaching about 6 to 6.2 feet (1.8-1.9 m) tall. 📝

It just failed for me. Sat there forever thinking about it, threw one megabloom, and the final harvest was like a tomato and a half 😝 Probably just a dud seed. Veronika, lots of the folks here seem to love it. It just didn’t work out for ME. 🙂

Just a heads up, this variety needs some SERIOUS attention when it comes to watering! 📝 Judging by that photo, it either got way too much water or the watering was super inconsistent. 🙌

Turned into a great, heavy-yielding vine for me. All the tomatoes were massive, but it definitely demanded extra potassium..

Mila, huge thanks for the seeds 😘
Turned out to be an absolute stunner – it’s officially on my permanent grow list. All the tomatoes were massive and uniform with zero green shoulders. Classic indeterminate vine, trained it to two leaders.

First tomatoes ripened on August 5th from a February 19th sowing. Acted more like a mid-late season variety, but that might be because it was in a west-facing bed and missed all the morning sun. Trusses had 2 to 4 fruits weighing 10.5-14 oz (300-400 g) each. Ran two stems.
Here’s a photo on the vine from August 10th.

Full Summary: Plant, Yield, Taste and Issues

  • 🌿 Plant: Indeterminate, sturdy vine reaching 6-6.2 feet (1.8-1.9 m) tall. Usually grown trained to two leaders. Requires a heavy feeding of potassium to support the massive fruit size.
  • 🍅 Fruit: Pink, extremely meaty beefsteaks. Standard sizes range from 10.5-14 oz (300-400 g), but with proper pruning, they can easily reach up to 2.2 lbs (1 kg). Notably ripens cleanly with zero green shoulders.
  • 📈 Yield: Generally a very heavy producer. However, some growers report dud seeds or instances where the plant throws a megabloom (fasciated blossom) early on and then stalls out.
  • 👅 Taste: Aromatic, rich, and highly praised classic tomato flavor.
  • ⚠️ Issues: Highly susceptible to radial cracking if watering is inconsistent or if the plant receives heavy deluges of water after dry spells.
